Recent Study Shows Caffeine Curbs Depression in Women
Pompano Beach, FL (PRWEB) November 09, 2011
A recent study undertaken by Dr. Alberto Ascherio at the Harvard School of Public Health found that caffeine has a direct effect on the instance of depression in women. The study collected information on 53,739 female nurses, average age 63. Dr. Ascherio followed these women for 10 years and found that the regular coffee drinkers in the group had a 20% lower risk of developing depression than those who rarely or never drank coffee. The study bodes well for the likes of GreenCoffex®, makers of an extended release caffeine capsule.
In order to be sure the study recorded caffeine’s long-term effect, rather than immediate ones, researchers waited two full years after collecting the last dietary report from each woman to begin questions about her mental health. Throughout the study timeframe, the research team asked a variety of questions including if they had been diagnosed with or begun taking medication for depression. When Dr. Ascherio announced his findings he stressed that he doesn’t see a reason for anyone to cut down on caffeine consumption, unless it makes them feel bad.
While this study focused on coffee, the research team found similar results when looking at overall caffeine consumption (those who consumed higher levels of soda or chocolate), leading them to believe that caffeine is the important factor. It’s already been proven that caffeine helps increase energy and improve your mood on a short-term basis, but the long-term positive mood effects are even more ground breaking and important.
“Much research has been done on the health benefits of caffeine and caffeine supplements over the years, but it has really just scratched the surface,” said Juan E. Perez, Marketing and Sales Director of GreenCoffex. “Recent studies uncovered that regular use of caffeine may increase the glucose fuel level in athletes as well as exercise performance(1); decreases the risk of prostate cancer in men(2); lessens the risk of type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and dementia and reduces the chance of certain cancers and strokes(3).”
Caffeine is found in many plants and ingested in a variety of ways. GreenCoffex uses only pure green coffee extract in each caffeine pill to, delivering natural energy and ensuring that other ingredients don’t cancel out the large number of benefits caffeine already has in nature.
“We can’t even begin to guess what other benefits of caffeine researchers will uncover next,” said Perez, “but we bet they’ll be great!”
