North Star Financial Advisor Gives Back
North Star Financial Advisor Gives Back
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) November 23, 2011
Minneapolis based North Star Resource Group, a featured specialist on strategies for individuals and businesses in the financial sector that grew from origins over 100 years ago, announces that advisor Clarisa Hernandez is working to help to help create a better future for underprivileged children. Hernandez, an advisor with North Star’s Phoenix office, works to help provide financial aid to kids with little or no access to quality education.
“I feel a strong connection to helping students pursue the best education possible. As a former scholarship student at Xavier, I can personally attest to how impactful the environment of academic excellence can be on someone with potential. The generosity and compassion of others allowed my parents to place me in a setting with a rigorous curriculum and more importantly, the ability to realize the full extent of my capabilities.”
In 2009, Hernandez along with Phil Richards started working with insurance companies that North Star had relationships with. They encouraged them to take advantage of the Arizona School Tuition Corporate Tax. “This tax credit allows insurance companies paying a premium tax in the state of Arizona to redirect up to $ 25,000 to educational institutions,” Hernandez said.
“What drew me to this effort was that all the money specifically goes to kids on financial aid,” Hernandez said. “Arizona has the 48th ranked education system in the country, so if you don’t live in a high income area, chances are you don’t have access to a quality education. The lack of education is the root of many problems in the nation. With this program, we can even the playing field for children who can be exposed to other walks of life. The money is going directly to the kids who need it.”
“I always imagined charitable giving in some capacity would be a priority in my life whether it was my time, money, or other resources, but it never crossed my mind that, at this point in my life, due to the generosity and persistence of Phil Richards, I could help facilitate a total of $ 100,000 towards tuition scholarships. What this experience has proven to me is that opportunities will present themselves at the most surprising times. The sooner we as individuals take on a role of social responsibility and actively contribute to the causes we feel are important, the sooner the communities around us benefit.”
“Because of people like Phil Richards not only am I inspired to continue these pursuits but am grateful for the opportunity to work in an organization that has continued to support me wholeheartedly. That type of support from the top to the everyday encouragement from the people I work with in my own office is irreplaceable and why I am grateful and honored to work with my North Star family.”
