Honey Tree Early Childhood Center Begins a Fresh School Year With a New Director
Thousand Oaks, CA (PRWEB) September 10, 2006 -—
Honey Tree Early Childhood Center, an outreach program of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, is launching a new season under its new director, Calla Chevalier.
Calla Chevalier has been a teacher at Honey Tree since 1990. Prior to that, she was the director of Monte Vista Presbyterian Preschool in Newbury Park, and a Master teacher at House On The Hill, California Lutheran University’s lab school in Thousand Oaks.
Calla did her undergraduate and graduate studies at California Lutheran University. She holds a B.A. degree in Liberal Arts, an Early Childhood Specialist Credential and California Teaching Credential.
In addition to teaching, Calla has been serving as Assistant Director of Honey Tree since 1992. She also serves as a Professional Growth Advisor for California Early Childhood Permit Holders.
Honey Tree has taught over 5,000 children from the Thousand Oaks metro area since its inception in 1974, including Todd Ekenstam. “Honey Tree, through its fun and nurturing educational environment, has had a lifelong impact on me and my family” says Todd, a graduate of Honey Tree’s 1974 class who is currently a software engineer in the local community.
“It is a great experience for me to have my children attend Honey Tree just as I did 34 years ago and watch them learn and grow.”
Honey Tree’s major purpose is to help each child value him or herself as a unique individual created by God, while developing a joyful curiosity about the world. The program is designed to provide experiences that involve the total child: intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially within the framework of a Christian setting.
Honey Tree Early Childhood Center is a member of the following organizations: National Association For the Education of Young Children, California Association for the education of Young Children, Tri Counties Association for the Education of Young Children, Evangelical Lutheran Education Association, and Preschool Association of Lutheran Schools.
Honey Tree Early Childhood Center is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC is the nation’s largest organization of early childhood educators.
Accredited schools have complied with the Academy’s criteria for high quality early childhood programs through a comprehensive process of internal self-study and external professional review.
