Tampa, Fl (PRWEB) February 17, 2012

The dictionary defines bartering as the ‘exchange of goods and services without monetary transaction’. It is simply an exchange of goods between two parties, who need something from each other. This mutual give and take has been practiced since antiquity, but has had its share of problems too. Picture this, a fishmonger wanting a new fishing net goes to a net maker with a handsome catch of fish. But the net maker isn’t interested in his fish. So, the fishmonger has either to remain without a net or make one on his own. And he can’t do either. So, he exchanges his fish with someone else for an item that the net maker would be interested in, and exchanges it to get his fishing net. This is what happened till money made its appearance.

Bartering has not just stayed alive through time, it has made a significant come back in the business world especially on B2BeTrader.com. The International Reciprocal Trade Association reports that bartering today is a whopping six-billion-dollar business-to-business success story worldwide. With the advent of the Internet and trading websites such as B2Betrader.com, that dollar value is expected to grow by more than ten percent annually.

Benefits

Conserves cash: Cash, the lifeblood of business, is always in short supply, whether for a corporate giant or a small-scale industry. Since bartering generally doesn’t require financial transaction, such a deal becomes mutually advantageous, as neither party has to part with cash to obtain the desired goods or services.

Generates sales and profits: Not only does bartering conserve cash, it can actually generate sales and profits. This is because inventory turns over more quickly and service providers sell more of their time than they would otherwise, had they insisted on cash.

Creates new customers: Bartering brings together unlikely parties, which would never have met in the normal course of business. If satisfied with the deal, these parties can refer many more customers to each other, including the ones who pay cash. Even the original barter customer may start paying cash in future transactions.

Moves surplus stock: Barter moves surplus stock, which otherwise would have remained in the storehouse. It also saves money that would have been lost in advertising and weighty discounts.

Utilizes downtime and unused capacity: If you are not utilizing the full capacity of your plant or service all the year round and can handle new customers, then bartering may pave the way for new business opportunities.

Lowers prices: With bartering the goods and services procured always turn out to be cheaper than they would have been with cash, since there are no overheads. This can give you an edge over competitors.

The most common type of bartering is one-on-one or direct bartering that you can indulge quite successfully. The cons are the difficulty in searching for the right deal or being assured that what you see in a print ad is what you get. For example, you may sell soft toys and may want printing services, but you may be hard put to find a printer who may want soft toys in return. The other type of bartering is called the third party bartering. It uses some form of currency to allow more dynamic exchange between the parties. Businesses generally use both types for best results. A website as B2Betrader.com uses specific search algorithms to return exactly what the user wants and uses a reporting system to declare ‘bad’ traders and also blocks any reported fraudulent user. “The benefits of business to business bartering are hard to ignore”, says Co-founder Jovan Haye.

Take advantage of this proven age old process and keep your business alive.

San Diego, CA. (PRWEB) February 22, 2012

With warm weather and partially cloudy skies, Orlando, Florida proved to be the perfect destination spot for kicking specialists to descend on the National Camp Series(NCS) Super Camp VI Kicking Camp.

According to Michael Husted, the founder of the National Camp Series, Super Camp VI was a great success with over 120 high school kicking specialists coming to the kicking camp and receiving hands-on training from former NFL, Pro and college kickers, punters and snappers including Craig Hentrich, Michael Husted, Louie Aguiar, Mike Hollis, Lee McDonald, Tom Feely, Dan Orner, Chris Shaw, and many others.

“This was by far the best Super Camp yet,” said Husted. “The talent level of the kicking specialists who attended this kicking camp was outstanding. This was the most freshmen and sophomores attending a NCS Super Camp than ever before. By a long shot.”

Husted went on to say, “We set up our camp to provide high quality instruction with a low ‘coach to camper’ ratio, objective evaluation through our Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Ratings, and competition and pressure management during our Head to Head Tournament.”

Husted said Super Camp VI reflected an NCAA style seeded brackets based on charting evaluation from the camp. There were also winners in each ‘age, grade, year and skill’ in the categories of Field Goals; Kickoffs; Punts and Long Snapping.

Husted added the competition provided a lot of excitement for kicking specialists and parents who attended Super Camp VI, “Our inaugural All Region Team Tournament was an exciting finish to the event and a great way to close it with Team Northeast taking home the Championship Trophy.”

Many parents who attended NCS Super Camp VI agreed with Husted about the quality of the camp instruction and instructors.

One parent said, “This was an amazing experience! The level of coaching was excellent, with the instructors giving fresh information at each station, plus excellent tips to integrate into the player’s skill levels. The coaches really made interaction possible. The players were from all around the country, and they were able to talk to each other throughout the two days. Mr. Husted’s opening speech was enlightening and motivational to both parents and kids.”

Another parent added, “”Overall, the camp was a huge success. The coaches on staff made the athletes feel at ease but motivated to work hard. They offered great instruction and were interacting with the students at all times. Having the seminar in the evening with the Sports Psychologist (Dr. Fayyadh Yusuf) was an absolute highlight. I truly believe that my son walked away feeling more confident and more motivated to continue his training.”

In addition to the training and competition, a Pro Kicking Demo was provided with NFL kicker Shayne Graham, NFL prospect James Wilhoit and Dan Zeidman and by NCS long-snapping coach Nolan Owen.

Husted said he is grateful for this year’s success and is looking forward to next year’s Super Camp.

“Our goal is to provide the best training, by the best coaches in the country, to as many young kicking specialists as we can,” said Husted. “I am looking forward to doing exactly that at next year’s Super Camp VII.”

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 21, 2012

Less than a week after announcing its first-ever national Read for My School campaign, We Give Books announced today that participants successfully reached the goal of 150,000 children’s books read online—all in just five days. The effort will result in the donation of 150,000 new hardcover and paperback children’s books to more than 700 public elementary schools designated by readers across the United States.

We Give Books, the digital literacy initiative from the Pearson Foundation and the Penguin Group, gives students, teachers and families access to a digital library of world-class children’s books. Simply by reading online at http://www.wegivebooks.org, anyone can help give a book to one of many literacy-based charities from around the world. For the first time, the Read for My School campaign allowed readers nationwide to direct donations to their own schools.

We Give Books estimates that more than 50,000 people participated in this online reading celebration. Schools from all 50 states participated; some of the top-reading schools include: Westlawn Elementary School (Mobile, AL), Vero Beach Elementary School (Vero Beach, FL), Bessie E. Owens Intermediate (Bakersfield, CA), Lincoln K-8 Choice Elementary (Rochester, MN) and Stillmeadow School (Stamford, CT). Each school will decide how to distribute the children’s books it receives: adding them to its own school library, sharing them with students, or donating them to local community organizations, for example.

“We Give Books is the most unique program to teach two of the most important skills, reading and giving,” said Betsy Hall, media specialist, Imagine Schools Lakewood Ranch (FL). “We are incredibly grateful to the Pearson Foundation for the opportunity to participate in Read for My School. All of our students will benefit from the donation of quality children’s books.”

“We Give Books’ mission is simple: we want to share the love of reading and to teach the importance of giving,” said Pearson Foundation President and CEO Mark Nieker. “The national response to Read for My School shows how strongly We Give Books’ readers feel about giving in their local communities. The impact of this campaign will be felt long after the books have been delivered—in schools, homes and local community centers.”

Since We Give Books launched in 2010, the Pearson Foundation and Penguin have donated nearly 825,000 books to schools and nonprofit organizations designated by readers who read from a free digital library of children’s books at http://www.wegivebooks.org. We Give Books works with exemplary literacy partners in the United States and around the world to put books into the hands of children and families. To learn more about these partners, including Room to Read, Books for Asia, Harlem Children’s Zone, and Jumpstart, visit http://www.wegivebooks.org/campaigns.

About We Give Books

We Give Books is a philanthropic program from the Penguin Group and the Pearson Foundation that helps children become lifelong readers and givers. Together, the Penguin Group and the Pearson Foundation support literacy through programs that engage entire communities. Working around the world through programs like Booktime and Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, Penguin and the Pearson Foundation have touched millions of lives in thousands of communities.

Santa Cruz, CA (PRWEB) February 21, 2012

X2Engine today announced the general availability of X2CRM, a next generation open source, Social Sales Management application. Founded in 2011 by CRM software entrepreneur and SugarCRM co-founder John Roberts, X2CRM has been in world wide beta since September 2011 and has been installed on over 1,000 public and private cloud servers across 75 countries.

“We are very excited about the success of our world wide beta program. Though developed by our core engineering team the daily feedback from our global open source community has definitely helped make X2CRM one of the best new sales systems introduced over the past several years. We feel very confident that X2CRM will become the open source CRM leader in the coming years.”

In today’s global economy, all companies need sales management systems in order to be competitive. The problem has been these applications both in the cloud and on private servers have become incredibly complex as well as costly to implement. X2CRM was designed to streamline contact and sales actions into a compact, social user interface.

X2CRM Key Features

Web and Facebook Lead Capture Forms

Lead Nurturing, Scoring and Intelligent Routing

Contact Activity Management

Sales Process Work-flow Engine

Email Correspondence

Product and Sales Quotes

User Profile Pages and Activity Streams

Field Security, Roles and Sales Teams

Visual Form Editor for Admins

Reporting Dashboard

iPad and Mobile Device Apps

For a live demonstration, a detailed feature list and screen shot library please visit http://www.x2engine.com. X2CRM takes advantage of the latest open source software including Apache, PHP, MySQL and Linux (LAMP). X2Studio, an administrative tool, allows developers to create and share new application modules without any programming knowledge. Additionally X2CRM supports HTML5, iPad, iPhone and Android mobile phones. X2CRM is fully internationalized and has been localized into six languages with more on the way. X2CRM can be downloaded from GitHub, Code.Google.com and SourceForge.net, and is released under the BSD license. X2Engine plans to roll out commercial support and private virtual server hosting packages in March with additional details to be provided in the near future.

Drops GPL for BSD Open Source License

Additionally, the company announced today that it had chosen to discontinue use of the GPVv3 license in favor of the less restrictive BSD license.

“Initially we released X2Engine beta versions under the GPLv3 license, which is still a great license. But considering that we do not include any GPL code (some LGPL) in our distro it did not make sense for us to force our community to use a license that we do not ourselves use,” said John Roberts. “This change to the BSD makes it much easier for developers and end customers to use and extend X2Engine without the copyleft restrictions of the GPL or AGPL licenses.”

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 15, 2012

De Beers Diamond Jewellers, the ultimate destination for engagement rings and wedding bands with over 120 years of diamond expertise, partnered with Colin Cowie Weddings for the annual Valentine’s Day Weddings Event, held at the iconic landmark on the world’s most romantic day of the year. Four lucky couples exchanged De Beers wedding bands and said “I do” at their own private, personalized, beautiful wedding ceremony created by celebrity event planner Colin Cowie at the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day, which is the only time when couples are able to marry at the building.

De Beers’ bands such as the Aura White Diamond Band and the DB Classic Half Eternity Band, were selected by Facebook fans to represent the couples’ everlasting love. All the selected bands have diamonds, including the plain ones, featuring a hidden diamond on the inside of the band, as a symbol of everlasting love because like true love, A Diamond is Forever.

Couples from across the country submitted videos describing their love stories and why they should be chosen to marry or renew their vows at ESB. After 16 semi-finalists were selected by a panel of experts, the public voted for their favorite couples. The winning couples who will share the most memorable day of their lives with their family, friends and the world at the iconic landmark are:

Stephanie Figarelle and Lela McArthur (Anchorage, AK) This couple first met in Anatomy and Physiology class and have been a team ever since. Now, the first-time visitors to NYC look forward to celebrating their love in the most recent state to pass marriage equality legislation.

Phil Fung and Shawn Klein (New York, NY) The self-described “best friends” have been committed for over 18 years and will be the first same-sex couple from New York State to marry at ESB. On the 14th they will be surrounded by their friends and loving families, with some hailing from Sean’s home state of North Dakota!

Angela Vega and Lubin Masibay (San Francisco, CA) After many movie nights spent watching Sleepless in Seattle, these two fun-loving nurses are thrilled to be getting married in the building made famous in the romantic film.

Paula Cubero and Enrique Catter (Greenwich, CT) The couple, originally from Mexico and Peru respectively, met in NYC and planned a wedding in Mexico which was canceled due to a swine flu scare. Now expecting their first child, they are thrilled to wed in front of family and friends in the city where they fell in love at first sight.

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 20, 2012

A 35 year old book about a demoralized and professionally under-rated assistant lecturer accused of murdering his wife has been named the funniest book of all times.

Funny Books Organization, an independent organization of book clubs, authors, agents, publishers and book shops, selected Tom Sharpe’s Wilt, from 1976, from more than 500 nominated books. The jury cited the book as “superb” and hailed it for its “blunt, yet elegant humour (…) not only surviving the enormous social changes of the last 35 years, but rather maturing into a classic.”

Wilt was first published by Secker and Warburg, and its success led Sharpe to follow up with an entire series of Wilt books; the latest of which was The Wilt Alternative in 2011. The novel is named after its main character, Henry Wilt. Years of teaching meaningless classes of uninterested students has made him give up all professional aspirations. At home he is subjected to hen-pecking and harassment by his physically powerful but emotionally immature wife Eva. Lacking hobbies or interests, Wilt spends his evenings walking the dog and dreaming of killing his wife. But a series of mishaps and unfortunate events start Wilt on a farcical journey.

Tom Sharpe is an English satirical author. Born in London, he was educated at Bloxham School, Lancing and Pembroke College, Cambridge. After spending some years in South Africa, he returned to England as a history lecturer at the Cambridge College of Arts and Technology – finding inspiration for “Wilt”. He currently lives in Llafranc, Catalonia, where he according to himself is “busy not learning the language”.

Wilt beat such competition as the classic “Catch-22″ by Joseph Heller and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adam, and bestsellers like ” Bridget Jones’ Diary” by Helen Fielding.

Located in Carlsbad, California, the Center offers a wide variety of programs, retreats, and teacher training programs that integrate the healing arts of the East with the best in modern Western medicine.

About David Simon, M.D.

Chopra Center Co-founder

Dr. David Simon was a best-selling author, Chopra Center co-founder, and pioneer in the field of mind-body medicine. More than three decades ago as an anthropology student exploring humanity’s earliest communities and cultures, he was drawn to the understanding that the role of the doctor was much more than a disease technician; a true healer had to be a diagnostician, medicine man, psychotherapist, and priest – an expert navigator of the mind and spirit as well as of the physical body.

As a medical student at the University of Chicago, David began studying and practicing meditation. Soon his fellow students were asking him for instruction in meditation as a tool for coping with the stress of their rigorous study demands. “By the time that I had completed my four years of medical school, almost half of my medical colleagues had learned meditation and were practicing at least intermittently purely for the value of having a tool to quiet their mind,” David said.

After finishing his medical degree, David completed several residencies at the University of San Diego and the University of Colorado. He began his influential career in private practice in neurology, and then served as chief of staff and medical director of the Neurological Rehabilitation Center and Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory at Sharp Cabrillo Hospital.

An Expanded Vision of Health and Healing

As a young physician and board-certified neurologist, David continued to explore a wide variety of healing traditions, searching for alternatives to the prevailing medical model that he had found extremely disappointing and limiting since his earliest days in medical school. He later wrote, “At times I was deeply demoralized that the notion of human beings as fully conscious, spiritually aware creations had been totally lost from the medical model of life and health.”

David studied the ancient wisdom traditions of India, Tibet, and China, encouraged by the way in which they combined the concept of body, mind, and spirit into a definition of a health as something more than just the absence of disease, but as a state of well-being and vitality.

David’s first exposure to an Ayurvedic physician was to have a profound impact on his personal life and career. In his book The Wisdom of Healing, David describes meeting this gentle vaidya (Ayurvedic doctor), whose kind-hearted, open nature seemed to inspire the trust of his patients, who were then able to share their deepest concerns and get the most benefit from their visit. David was deeply struck by how the vaidya’s own presence seemed to be the most powerful aspect of his therapy. “More than an expert on health, he seemed to be a living representative of a healthy person, balanced in body, mind, and spirit. In this man, I saw the possibility that a physician could be more than a technical master of pathology – a doctor could guide his patients to health through his actions, words, and being,” David said.

Deeply drawn to the wisdom of Ayurveda, David ultimately became a recognized expert in this 5,000-year-old healing system, including its sister science, yoga. Throughout his medical career, he focused on integrating the theory and practice of these ancient healing sciences with the newer developments of modern Western medicine. He forged a model of health that integrates the multiple dimensions of a human being ― environmental, physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual.

The Creation of the Chopra Center

In 1996, David co-founded the Chopra Center for Wellbeing with his colleague and mind-body healing expert, Deepak Chopra, M.D. Together, they have expanded people’s understanding of the true meaning of health, helping thousands of people throughout the world experience the healing benefits of Ayurveda, meditation, and yoga.

Recognized as a leading authority in the effective and appropriate use of mind-body medicine practices, Dr. Simon’s endeavors resulted in the training of thousands of physicians, nurses, and health care providers. One of the first recipients of a National Institutes of Health grant to study mind-body medical approaches to improving health care, David helped bring integrated mind-body medical programs to medical institutions, health centers, educational institutions, and health resorts throughout the world.

Best-Selling Books on Mind-Body Medicine

David Simon was a best-selling author of many wellness books, including Free to Love, Free to Heal: Heal Your Body by Healing Your Emotions; The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga Guidebook; Return to Wholeness: Embracing Body, Mind, and Spirit in the Face of Cancer; The Wisdom of Healing; Vital Energy; and The Ten Commitments: Translating Good Intentions into Great Choices. He has also co-authored many books with visionary Deepak Chopra, including The Chopra Center Herbal Handbook; Grow Younger, Live Longer; The Chopra Center Cookbook; Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives: a Holistic Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth; and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga.

Lynchburg, VA (PRWEB) September 29, 2011

Liberty University students and the Central Virginia community will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view some of the oldest manuscripts in the world this weekend.

A special exhibit from the notable Green Collection in Oklahoma City, the largest private collection of biblical manuscripts and artifacts in the world, opened Thursday and will run through Saturday at the Liberty University Art Gallery.

The display features 55 items, including an original 1611 King James Bible, a leaf from the Gutenberg Bible, a 15th-century German Bible with hand-colored woodcuts, and even many different printed editions of the Bible in English before the introduction of the King James Version.

The oldest items are cuneiform tablets that date back to 2000 B.C.; the latest item is the first legally printed Bible in America, the Aitken Bible, printed in 1782.

The exhibit is set up like a timeline, taking viewers through the historical development of the Bible.

Curator Joy Carroll said she hopes people “walk away with a little bit of a better understanding of the preservation of God’s word and a sense of how the Bible came to be in our hands in English today.”

“It has a long history and that history is still growing, and we’re part of that story,” she said.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. Hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. It will also be on display at Thomas Road Baptist Church on Sunday.

Much of the collection has never been examined from an academic perspective and the Green family is hoping to partner with institutions to begin more study into the ancient texts through the Green Scholars Initiative.

The Green family, owners of the Hobby Lobby chain of arts and crafts stores, have collected more than 40,000 ancient texts and artifacts related to the Judeo-Christian story and have hopes of creating a national Bible museum. (Liberty’s Green Hall was an indirect donation from Hobby Lobby.) The collection has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today and other major news publications. Liberty is one of the first institutions to host this exhibit.

The exhibit coincides with Liberty’s conference celebrating the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Liberty Mountain Conference Center in Candlers Station shopping center.

The conference will feature many nationally known scholars, including several Liberty University faculty members. A banquet will be held Friday, Sept. 30 from 7 to 10 p.m. featuring keynote speaker David W. Bebbington, a noted scholar from the University of Stirling. (Registration is required for the banquet and conference. Admission to the conference is free for students with valid ID. Registration and other information on the conference can be found at http://www.liberty.edu/kjv400.)

Liberty University, located in Lynchburg, Va., is the world’s largest Christian university. It has 12,560 students attending classes on its 625-acre residential campus and 61,594 students in its thriving online education program.

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) February 18, 2012

QualityStocks would like to highlight Single Touch Systems Inc., a publicly traded company, focused on providing technology based mobile solutions serving businesses, advertisers, and brands. Through patented technologies and a modular, adaptable platform, SITO’s multi-channel messaging gateway enables marketers to reach consumers on all types of connected devices, with information that engages interest, drives transactions and strengthens relationships and loyalty.

In the company’s news yesterday,

Single Touch reported financial results for its fiscal first quarter ended December 31, 2011.

Fiscal first-quarter revenue increased 57.1 percent to $ 1.6 million, compared to revenue of $ 1.0 million for the same period in 2010. The company attributes the increase in revenue to the launch of new programs and increased message volume through retailers, which helped grow quarterly message volume 83 percent compared to the first fiscal quarter of the year prior.

James Orsini, CEO of Single Touch, said the positive trends through the company’s retail channels are driven by retailers acknowledging the efficiency and relevance of mobile marketing.

“As more and more companies recognize the importance of an integrated mobile marketing and communications strategy, Short Message Service (SMS) has emerged as the most intimate and trusted communications channel. Single Touch is well positioned to capitalize on the strength of its highly-scalable technology platform to cost effectively increase both its client base and message volume throughput,” Orsini stated in the press release.

The company reported a 17.9 percent decrease in its loss from operations for the period ended December 31, 2011, excluding stock-based compensation and depreciation and amortization (adjusted EBIDTA) at $ 0.4 million compared to a loss of $ 0.5 million in 2010.

Single Touch acknowledged that while adjusted EBITDA is not a measure in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), the company uses adjusted EBITDA to evaluate the performance of its underlying business:

The net loss (non-GAAP) for the period ended December 31, 2011, was $ 0.6 million compared to a loss of $ 4.9 million for the same period last year. The company attributes the improvement to significantly lower stock-based compensation expense of $ 31,000 incurred during the period, compared to $ 3.6 million incurred during the same period in 2010.
